Govind Vijayakumaran Nair is an Associate Partner at Callidus Legal, with over eight
years of diverse legal experience spanning Litigation, Intellectual Property,
Arbitration, Compliance, and Corporate Law. Known for his strategic legal acumen,
Govind has played key roles in leading legal departments and advising startups
across multiple sectors.
He currently specializes in Corporate and Company Law, Intellectual Property
Rights, Contracts, and International Law. Prior to joining Callidus, he served as Legal
Advisor to the Managing Director of Walkaroo International Pvt. Ltd., where he led
legal due diligence for acquisitions, advised on regulatory compliance, and
represented the company before key government bodies like BIS and DPIIT on
policy issues affecting the footwear sector.
During the same period, he also advised the Confederation of Indian Footwear
Industries (CIFI), supporting policy advocacy and industry compliance negotiations
with government stakeholders. In addition, Govind has actively advised startups on
legal structuring, patent filings, and acquisition strategies. As a freelance legal
advisor, he supported companies such as Hopfenbauer Farms Pvt. Ltd., and held
leadership positions at Hydrobaccus Initiative Pvt. Ltd., where he negotiated M&A
deals, IP sales, and strategic partnerships.
Earlier in his career, as Senior Associate and Litigation Lead at Joseph & Kuriyan, he
managed high-stakes civil and IP litigation at the High Court of Kerala, District
Courts, and Debt Recovery Tribunals, including writ petitions and enforcement
matters.
Govind’s key areas of expertise include Start-Up Advisory, Patents, Legal Strategy,
Contract Negotiation, Risk Management, and Litigation Operations. He holds a BBA
LL.B. from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, awarded in 2015.
