Mr. Joy Thattil completed his schooling in Cochin and graduated in Law from the
Government Law College, Ernakulam. He enrolled with the Bar Council of Kerala in
1996 and has been a Notary Public appointed by the Government of India since
2007.
He founded the firm M/s. Joy Thattil & Co., comprising a multidisciplinary team
including a Company Secretary, Chartered Accountant, and a retired Registrar of
Companies. The firm handled a wide range of matters Tax, Constitutional, Shipping,
Company, Civil, Criminal, and Service matters before the High Court and various
other courts. In 2009, he founded the firm M/s. Callidus merged with Joy Thattil &
Co, expanding its presence to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai, with overseas
branches in Dubai and Malaysia.
Mr. Thattil pursued his specialization in International Maritime Law from the
University of Southampton, U.K. As a Maritime Lawyer, he has represented vessel
owners, shipping companies, and claimants in numerous cases across India and
internationally.
He has travelled extensively to present papers on International Maritime Law in the
U.S., Canada, the U.K., and other jurisdictions, and has served as Guest Faculty at
several premier institutions in India and abroad. In 2016, he was appointed Special
Public Prosecutor for the Thekkady Boat Tragedy.
Mr. Thattil currently serves as the Secretary General of the Dubai Shipping Agents
Association (DSAA).
