Capt. Milind J. Karkhanis brings nearly four decades of extensive experience across
multiple sectors of the maritime industry. He began his seafaring career in 1978,
dedicating 15 years at sea and rising from Cadet to Master.
In 1993, he transitioned ashore and joined Confidence Shipping, India, followed by
the American Bureau of Shipping, where he oversaw ISM and ISO-related activities.
He later moved to Hong Kong to work with New Asian Shipping, managing a fleet of
over 40 vessels as the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Head of Operations,
Security, Safety, and Quality.
Since 2004, Capt. Karkhanis has been based in London, serving with Videotel, a
leading maritime distance-learning provider. In this role, he has been responsible for
developing training programmes on ship safety, operations, technical subjects, and
loss prevention, while liaising with Flag State Administrations and Classification
Societies.
Throughout his career, he has amassed significant accomplishments, including over
21 years of experience handling a wide range of wet and dry claims for shipowners
and other stakeholders, as well as involvement in technical operations such as ship
sales and shipbuilding.
